Distressed Shirt looks like it already lived a whole life before you even put it on. It’s a taupe-olive cotton tee, but the chest, shoulders, and back are torn up in long, ragged shreds not printed, not faded, actually cut and pulled apart by hand. What’s going on with it

The rips cluster mostly around the collarbone and shoulders, then trail down the back and sleeves. It’s 100% cotton jersey, so it’s soft and doesn’t feel heavy or stiff against skin. Since every tear is hand-cut and finished rather than just slashed, it actually holds together better than most distressed pieces. Wash it cold by hand, or send it to the dry cleaner if you want to keep the tears looking exactly as they arrived.

Why this one’s worth the price tag

A lot of distressed shirts are basically a normal tee wearing a costume some machine-printed pattern trying to fake torn fabric. Somebody sat down and cut each hole by hand, thinking about how it would sit against the body and open up when you move. That’s why it doesn’t look like damage so much as design like the shirt already went through something and came out the other side intact.

It’s also easier to actually wear than it looks in a photo. Loose fit, longer hem it layers fine under a coat or jacket, or you can just throw it on alone with something tailored underneath for contrast. Add a pair of Rick Owens Shoes and you’ve basically got a full outfit out of one shirt.
